Carpenter Bee Traps

Post by Daisy »

Just finished making my 1st trap. Great directions and easy to make in less than an hour.
2 questions: Does the type of wood matter? Does the type of jar/trap matter. I have a lot more plastic jars than glass ones and I need several traps; carpenter bees really like our log cabin.

Pretty much any type of wood can be used. The ones that we sell in the shop are made from Western Red Cedar, which is one of their favorite types of wood. I used pine in the examples on the blog. Both have had outstanding success in catching carpenter bees.

As far as jars... we recommend using freezer jars, since they can safely withstand any range of temperatures.
