WOW! It has been quite a while since I posted here in my challenge. We have used quite a bit of older frozen food from freezers. DH defrosted our upright freezer. It is the size of an apartment freezer. This freezer is now organized and the bottom shelf is now full of this year's blueberries. We still have more to freeze and process. I need to make some more jam and save the freezer space.

We finally took the nets off the blueberry bushes and let the birds have a feast. I froze 15 quarts and 8 jars of jam. Enough until next year. We have been eating out of the freezer. I used smoked salmon this week. It was great on bagels. I need some my ideas of how to use it. I have to shop from the freezer first. Always... My new mantra. Do not let food go to waste.
I am freezing very little from my gardens this year. Worse garden year in my memory. It rains all the time. DH did defrost the upright freezer and it is now organized. My herbs have done well... I'm going to freeze some basil this week.

I'm working on using up a big pack of corn tortillas (80 of them). I made an enchilada casserole today that used up 16 of them.
While I am trying to use things up (frozen strawberries and blueberries and oatmeal) I am also continuing to stock canned goods (tomato products) and peanut butter when I find them at good prices (mostly free from Amazon via gift cards earned doing surveys).
I might end up turning some of those tortillas into chips. I won't let them go to waste - I also won't make the error of buying an 80-pack again - even if it is a great deal.

I used a package of ground moose meat to make American Chop Suey yesterday. (Given to us from a neighbor) It also finished off a package of frozen green peppers and two jalapenos.
I am thawing a frozen chicken for roasting, probably on Sunday...
I finished a package of frozen blueberries. We had it with steel cut oatmeal.
I also grilled a salmon filet the other night. Great with lemon slices and herbs from the garden.

I have not posted in a wile, but I am still using from my freezer first, but I am in Miami now. I left an ice cube in my freezer so I can tell if the electricity goes off for too long. The ice cube will melt. Food will veed to be thrown away.
I hope not.

Re: Challenge- Use the Pantry and Freezer First!
I'm still using from my freezer first. We returned home from our Florida vacation last Tuesday night. Today is Monday. A stocked freezer meant that we didn't have to run to the store as soon as we got home.
We've used brussel sprouts, chicken breasts, ground moose meat, frozen tomatoes, bread crumbs, spaghetti noodles, apple slices, and chicken tenders from the freezer since we've returned.
I did purchase 10 pounds of boneless chicken breasts last night at $1.49 a pound. I couldn't resist the sale at a local market. I need to freeze them today. I usually freeze two in a bag. I use my Nesco food saver.
