Projects for 2018

Post by Jackielou »

Well, it's time again to start thinking and lining up projects for next year.

Also time to challenge ourselves to get as much accomplished as we can.

What are your challenges for the upcoming year? (Will post mine a bit later)

If things go well, we will sell this house and be in another one before the end of June 2018. If so, we will start building and filling raised beds for a new garden! :D

So the projects are: get ready for listing, list/sell, hopefully move smoothly - though I know it's too much to hope for to only have to move once - from one house to the other instead of having an interim arrangement - and then get a fence up and start some serious work so we can HOPEFULLY get at least some beets and greens in for late 2018, and have tomatoes, cucumbers, greens, squash, and maybe strawberries in the ground by spring of 2019.

2018 should bring a total change in our house!!! Our downstairs is a disaster with piles of books that need to be sorted and dealt with. Also, Hubby's workroom looks like a nuclear dumping ground with tools, scraps and dust all over the place. Lots of tracking of sawdust in the rest of that level. jeesh. Also, some spiders are taken up living quarters in the bathroom down there so after we tidy up clean the place I'll call an exterminator to come spray the creepy-crawlies.

Next on the list is cleaning and sorting the junk in the spare walk-in closet. Terrible mess!!!

Next will see us going through all our clothes in our closet - some items haven't been worn since we built this house nearly 14 years ago. And that's what's left after I purged the stuff before moving in. another jeesh...

With only the two of us living here, one would think that there wouldn't be so much clutter and just plain mess lying around.

I'm positive there will be more items added to the list but these things are the ones that are driving me batty!!!

So For 2018:

We are working on decluttering the house, DS has outgrown alot of clothes so I have been giving them to a mom whose baby doesn't have anything. I am working to pick our bedroom up and get everything organized. We are also looking at outdoor buildings to help organize.

We bought new living room furniture for a steal and gave our old couch to my mom. Also some other items that were cluttering up our home.

We also are gonna work on fixing up small things that have broken. We painted the knobs to the cabinets, and I am working on the decor for our bedroom and our son's room.

We just have one main project for the year and that is getting the basement vented for heat and finished so we can use it again. I may have convinced Hubby that we should talk to another plumbing and heating company. I am so tired of waiting for this to be completed.

If that project actually gets done in a decent time frame, I have a feeling Hubby will want to build a garage out back.

The little projects are:

Work on decluttering (this has been going on for three years now and each year a bit more leaves my house).

Post some of my hand work on the city site and see if it sells.

Post a few items on the garage sale sites for the city. If the items don't sell take them to the Salvation Army or Second Chance thrift stores.

Of course this list will be added to over the course of the year, cause that is just how things roll here.
