lol.. that is when I had to get reading glasses. My eye Dr told me nothing wrong that does not happen to a lot of people when they get in to their 40's.. Hhmm the age thing I am not so sure about. It is usually women that start to shave years off as they get older..lol.

JUNE!!!

A new month to try not to spend through

Tomorrow, it'll rain - actually, it's going to start here any minute according to radar, but also tomorrow - and then Monday - Friday? Rain likely.

Rain tends to keep me home, though, and if I'm home - and DH is home - Lowe's profits and stock will drop for a bit.

I haven't been across the river in several days, DH says it's receding nicely. I hope we don't get so much that it reverses that trend.

Help, I have potatoes and garlic and don't want to make garlic mashed potatoes. Hmm. Some days I feel creative and some days...

Oh! I got a raise. I don't even have an active contract, just work 5 days a week and turn in my time, and lo and behold... I don't know why. It's not as though there are other companies breaking down my door trying to get me to go to work for them. I'm a bit past 'middle aged' with a really limited skill set. Didn't turn it down, mind you ;) Still have kids to put through college. DH will graduate with his masters 3 months before the first kid starts college; DH's schooling is paid for by his employer. The kids we want to try to put through loan-free, so they won't be in their 40s finalizing their schooling or paying anything down. Though I think it's been good for them to see how much he values the opportunity and works hard - straight A's. He says he was a screw up as a kid (not great grades, dropped out of his 19-year old bout of college), the idea of a masters with honors makes him laugh.

That's the thing with humidity - I'm asthmatic. Really mild for the most part unless a cat decides to stop by or I'm near a running lawnmower OR... its really humid. Makes me seize right up, I have to hit the inhaler and the A/C together and wait for both to tame everything.

We did not have A/C and we lived.. Not always pleasant but we survived. Quite a while back people died in St. Louis, MO due to the heat at least 300 so you can live in an area and still not adapt. Some people just seem to have better thermostats and can tolerate heat better. I went To New Orleans a couple of years in a row in October. We were loving the cool weather since when we left St Louis is was still hot and muggy. We were running around in short sleeves and some of the residents actually had gloves and ear muffs on.lol
That's wild - in Oklahoma it can be -2 F outside and people will go to Wal-Mart in pajama bottoms and flip flops. Sometimes a jacket. DH is from a place famous for its ski resorts, he goes dressed for winter when its winter, and says people in pjs look at him funny

Bummer on having asthma so bad. That is one reason my SIL has to go to Mexico for the winter. She was not diagnosed properly and by the time she was seen by the proper DR she had a lot of lung damage.. Take care of your self
We live in complacent times. I was following a school bus home one day, not by choice. Anyway it was January we are in a rural area and not one child got off of the bus with a coat or jacket. Not even carrying one. If there had been a bus problem they could all have gotten dangerously cold in a short period of time. I am with you husband dress appropriately. I do not like to wear a coat when I am driving but always have a hat, coat and gloves in my car for just in case.

Can you send the prairies here in Canada some rain? We are in drought conditions right now. It has been almost a month since we had any precipitation at all, and then it was only a tiny little bit.

Not sure if you saw it on my posting yesterday but we are getting the smoke from Alberta, Canada..The sky was hazy yesterday and will be again today and they said it was due to the fire. Wish we could send you the rain it is out of control here and no break for the foreseeable future. I know when we had or summer house in Minnesota the forestry department would send out bulletins about the dryness and at times we could not even cut the grass for fear that a spark could ignite the dry areas and create a fire. Dad use to use a lake water pump to water the areas to try to keep things less flammable. Hope you get a break soon.
