Happy Valentine's Day Feb 14, 2018 - Daily Check-in

Post by gaylejackson2 » Wed Feb 14, 2018 3:51 am

Hello Frugal friends,

Hubby's CPAP face mask rattling against his face has awakened me yet again, this seems to happen 2-4 times a week; usually I can handle the noise but I've not slept well in several nights, thus I seem to be compiling sleepless nights up like crazy.

Dh claims that he's getting overheated & sweaty at night so that makes his mask slip and make farting sounds which then wake me up -- well the window is open so he cannot claim that the room is too hot. I'm thinking that I need to make him some waterproof pillowcases, something to help wick sweat off his face & neck, but to keep the pillows from smelling like sweaty buttcrack/armpit/worst stinky man smell ever (ALL of his pillows & pillowcases STINK after a few weeks, and NOTHING makes them smell good again)!! Am considering using PUL, black or brown like on this page. http://www.diapersewingsupplies.com/pul ... rd-or-cut/

I've decided to not accept any subbing jobs tomorrow UNLESS they are for half days -- I'm WAY behind on housework, PLUS Dh keeps whining about how deep in debt he is and how he NEEDS THAT TAX RETURN to be done.
I just want it to be done too, plus the girls' room is smelly & their carpet needs cleaned, their clothes need washing, and I want dd7's unused platform twin bed frame OUT -- I'll move in the unused twin bed from ds9's room, he just uses it to collect stuff, spreads gum on the quilts (*GRRRRR* :x ), and I'm planning to use the "mattresses" (very thin foam pads) this Thursday-Saturday at Knitting/spinning retreat anyhow.

Am not sure on what dinner tonight will be, I have a freezer-full of meat and I just want someone else to cook it!! ;) Maybe I'll grill hamburgers... or make grilled chicken on salads, we do need more greens in our lives. 8-)

I also need to make banana bread, and muffins for Saturday morning brunch with knitting group; and I'm craving GF brownies! Plus its Valentine's Day, and a perfect day to take dd5 to Story-time at the library!!

If I can get to sleep again, I'll be EXTREMELY grateful!

May you all have a lovely Valentine's Day, and I hope you get to do fun & joyful things!!

=) Gayle

Gayle, perhaps DH should do his own tax return. Sorry arm is hurting, no sleep and I am tired out. Your DH is lucky to have you.

I have my own bed. I sleep better that way. And everyone is grateful that I do.

Good Morning friends,

Gayle, Sigh, I am so sorry. Your Hubby seems to want everything from you. He wants you to do taxes, clean the house, get him out of debt by working, take care of he children... That is difficult.

So I am taking care of myself and went to see a Metabolic specialist yesterday. I am concerned that my fasting Blood sugars have been higher. So they have me on a diet,. 4 fruits, four veggies, and 4 tsp of olive oil per day. 3-4 oz of protein, mostly fish and turkey per meal. Chicken twice a week. 4 eggs and 4 dairy per week and red mean once a month... Veggies are no problem, but those fruits... I went to Aldi and they have a marinated turkey tenderloin. I cooked it and divided it up into 3-4 oz portions. I then warmed some frozen peppers and onions, threw in cubed turkey all for my dinner.

Today is work form home. At lunchtime I want to run up to the high school and leave a small Valentine's gift for DS2 in his car. (I have his spare key). I got him a card and a $15 Starbucks card. Then probably attend Mass tonight for my ashes.

Have a great day,
Maggie

Good morning fellow frugalites,

I have been up for most of the night. My arm is kinda achy, I couldn't find a comfortable position to rest it in, and then I got an itch. I was hoping for a good sleep before the trip to the hospital. Oh well, only another 8 or so weeks of this I figure.

Hubby is going to drop me off at the hospital and then I will get what needs to be done while he waits to see if the electricians call. I am to call him when I am done to come and get me. We were supposed to head out shopping right after, but I think that might have to wait until tomorrow. Hopefully not though.

Frugality wise if we do go shopping I have made my list and will be sticking to it. Entertainment will once again be the television and one of my free downloaded books.

It's Ash Wednesday so supper will be soup and sandwiches. Most likely grilled cheese sandwiches.

Today I am grateful that I have made it through one week of this and only have a few more to go.

Will check in again later.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good lovely Wednesday morning all,

I am pretty happy. The vet tested the cat and said she would write a shot excuse for the cat (boarding) because she did not think the cat could handle the strain to the liver from more shots. I felt the same way even without the cat getting a liver test. At Lowe's they had a pot of real daisies and I bought them. I told hubs this was my V day flowers. I so like the flower. They are sitting on the porch, blooming. :D

Yesterday, I walked down the street intending to offer my neighbor who smokes meat a lot some chunks of oak. But no one was home, but another neighbor I had been trying to catch for weeks was. I wanted to thank her(husband really) for the barrels that became the legs on my plant potting table. She talked a lot about everything. She needs to talk. So I listened. Then I walked home and made dinner. It was that long.

Today, I take hubs to the foot doctor. I have high hopes for a recommendation for better shoes. I think walking would be good for him and better shoes would make it easier. The weather is perfect for walking. I also cut a coupon out for $10 off shoes from Peltz. I like the store. See if I can use the coupon. :)

I used the $5 off coupon and now I have enough stones to do the east side of the house. But it will have to wait until this afternoon. Doctor appointments always take half a day. But this one may be the last for the month. Hooray!

Military son called last night. We had not heard from him for awhile. He was unaware his grandmother had died. Well, we sent him emails. He just had not looked. He was in a bad mood, so we tried to cheer him up. The video ad "herding cats" got him laughing. It is a good mood changer.

Old dance partner is down in Cozumel, scuba diving. I am happy for him. A nice lady, dive master, has taken him under her wing and provided him with opportunities.

I discussed with hubs my plans to spend more money since there is supposed to be some money from the estate. He was good with my choices. They say it will be a lot. We will see. We are happy with how we live, where we live and what we have. I don't think the family including the children understand frugality is our choice, not by force.

Well, it is time to get going on the day. Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.
