Frugal Fail

Post by ChristmasTrees » Thu Oct 11, 2018 9:11 pm

A complete fail!
I had company coming and didn't get to my regular grocery store.(45 minutes away) Very rural here. So..I had to go to the small store 20 minutes away. SO EXPENSIVE. It cost me three times as much as it should have!

I am sorry you had to buy at an expensive store. It sounds like you had no choice.

I shop at my local small town expensive store.

At first it was a shock, but I have now noticed that I really save.

The big store is full of things I would get and then not use. Here I just get the basics and that is generally what we need

45 minutes away is way too far to go to a grocery store - I complain about fifteen. The big store is about fifteen minutes away. Local store about one!

Yeah...everything here is about 45 minutes away. I always have a list when I go. If I forget something...oh well...certainly not going back for it.
We have a pickup truck and a Prius hybrid plug in. We use the Prius most of the time, so gas saved.

Can you factor in the cost of gas to and from to the big store as a little bit of a savings compared to the things you needed to buy? Sometimes I talk myself out of going in to town for that reason it.. Is it worth the cost of gas in the amount saved. Janet Alliesmama
