is it me, or is this creepy?(death and cremation)

Post by icfrugal2 »

the service was held for DH's brother yesterday, it was very nice.

He is going to be cremated, SIL bought an urn for some of the ashes and she is going to have it buried with her.

It's ok with the son for SIL (his aunt) to have the ashes.

No one is asking me, but I think that it's creepy.

on the other hand Dog's ashes (RIP 2016) will be buried with DH and I.

any thoughts?

I'm not giving my thoughts to DH, I don't know if she is going to tell him

DH is also having a hard time with his brothers' death.

IC, I am conf\used. Is the SIL that you mention the sibling of the deceased?

sorry, yes, his sister.

after their mother died last year, 2 brothers (one with his girlfriend) and the sister, (with her husband) lived at the mobile home that their mother left.

The brother and sister were looking after the brother who just died.

oh I want to be cremated and my ashes placed with my mom and dad - along with my military brass plaque.

Nothing wrong with cremation in my view. Heck the Catholic church just okayed it a few years ago. But even if they had not - that was how I would go!!

Is the cremation that you find crazy or the burial of the remains or the fact that its the sister. Sometimes people use the word burial instead of internment but I see no issue with the above.

If I understand it, Sister wants to be buried in a casket, with the urn containing her Brother's ashes inside the casket along with her?

I don't see anything wrong or strange about that. She loved her brother, and took care of him. She sees this as continuing to care for him, and they won't be lonely.

There are cases where a parent is buried with a small child or infant, if they died together. Or two infants together. Sharing with an urn is the same, IMO.
