Good morning frugal friends,

I enjoyed my Aunt's retirement party last night. Got to catch up with some people, so now at Christmas I can catch up with others. I still have not gotten to any of my sewing projects. Tonight!

Off to make my breakfast.
Have a great day,
Maggie

Good morning. I hope I don't get stuck at work late today. Year-end stuff needs to be done and we are only open 3 days next week and closed tomorrow also.
Need to pick up library book, finish sewing gift aprons. I'll make a pot of veg soup. DH won't be home until late. Thank goodness the weather is cold but no precipitation to deal with.
Have a good day.

Good Thursday morning all,

I have an early doctor's appointment, so I am glad Maggie posted early. Yesterday was a no spend day even though I was out. I dropped off hubs at his appointment and went to the gym instead of the stores and did a light workout. Picked up hubs and came home. Worked in the yard the rest of the day. I did stop at Starbucks and asked for used coffee grounds for my garden. Very nice bag. Working out paid off, I lifted the heavy bag into my car easily.

Today's doctor is always on time. So I will be back home by mid morning. Not much in the grocery ads this week, so no reason to detour to a store. This afternoon, I want to get in my regular workout with weigh in and will get hubs low carb ice cream next door while I am out. So a spend day. Sadly, I have not lost any weight this month so far. A Christmas present would be nice. Just a pound would be nice.

Today, I will open kitty's last 32 pack of cat food. I sure hope there is a sale on it soon. I can save 10-15c/can on a good Petsmart sale. I visited some neighbors yesterday and wished them a Merry Christmas. I didn't take food or gifts, just good thoughts.

Well, time to get going. Have a nice day everyone. Stay safe and warm.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

Brrr, it is cold out. Right now the temperature reads -25 C, but add in the wind chills and it feels like it is -35 C. I think today is a good day to stay wrapped up and inside.

I have a short to do list today, so I may just bake a cake. I hope that keeps me out of the Caramel Slice (I keep nibbling). Other than that it will be the usual list of Thursday chores along with knitting (getting very close to finishing the baby blanket) and drinking copious amounts of hot chocolate and tea.

Exercise will be carried out in the house today, I am not going for my walk. Just not acclimatized yet.

Sent texts to the DSs to find out when they would be home. Youngest DS says they get out early on Friday and so will be home around 6ish in the evening. Oldest DS says he is dropping a friend off at the airport on Saturday and so will not be home until Sunday. He plans on leaving his home around 8 so I figure he should be here by around 4 in the afternoon. I am a little disappointed in that he will probably be leaving on the 27th or 28th to spend some time with his friends.... Not much time with him this year.

Supper this evening is going to be some type of beef soup (need to use up some pan drippings and a package of that leftover roast beef). I plan on checking for some pot barley in the cupboard (should be some in the stash) but if there isn't I will use pasta.

Today I am grateful that I will get to spend time with the boys over the holidays (pushing that tiny bit of disappointment out).

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good morning. It is around 30 F with a wind chill of 21 F but going to warm up to around 53 F. The last day for warm weather. Tomorrow a cold front moving in with snow flurries. I am glad I would love to have some light snow for the holiday.

I have been up since around 4:30 AM have dish towels washed and in the dryer and a load of clothes in the washing machine. The dishwasher is also humming. I cleaned out the fridge and rearranged things for my holiday grocery shopping. I was going to go with my aide to shop but I am getting really tired. I will have my great nephew here tomorrow starting at 6:00 AM and he will be staying all night. He really is a good kid and good about entertaining himself but he will still need to be fed and have some interaction. The mind is willing but the body says no you will not..lol

Doggie nephew is doing much better but still has not had a bowel movement. He is kind of wearing me down since I have to go with him whenever he goes outside to potty. I need to keep a check on what he is doing and I go out with a flashlight at night to check to see if he has a bowel movement. As we all know a dog does not just poop he has to walk around and find just the right spot..lol.

Have a good and frugal day everyone. Janet Alliesmama

I managed to sleep through the night.

The sun is out!! What a difference it makes.

I have the windows open and will enjoy the sunshine.

Today is the winter solstice - shortest day of the year. From now on the days will get longer - thank the Lord.
