It is grey and dreary today. What a change from yesterday. Yesterday was cool but sunny. Even though it was a sad day due to Bruce's passing, it was good weather. Dreary weather would have just added more sadness to an already sad situation.

I always thought of him as a military dog even though he wasn't. I would tell him "patrol Bruce" and he would run out into the yard and walk the fence. I felt safe with him out there. So we didn't use the nice heavy cardboard box they provided. We wrapped him up in his camouflage blanket.

I told Rusty that he was the big dog of the house now, but he is so goofy - he just looked at me like I was nuts!

So not sure what I will do today. I admire all y'alls activities. I do have the stirrings of wanting to spring clean, but I need the natural light. More sun. I hate turning on overhead lights.

Oh well, hope all have a great day.
I am crying with you :( I'm glad that you were able to bring him home.

Back in the day, when we had gillion cats, one cat, Shadow was the cat who took care of the yard etc. when Shadow died, his litter brother Yo-Yo, who was the gentlest cat ever took over his brothers job. I was very impressed with Yo-Yo.

Rusty may surprise you.

Good morning,

I am still deep cleaning the pantry. I was going to defrost the freezer today but I got called in to help a friend at work with yard duty so I will wait until I get home. Luckily I got the text message before I started pulling stuff out. My plan is to take a hiatus from work this month but if work comes up that I like I will take it. The flu is still making its rounds here so I will work if needed. The pantry will still be there when I finish.

Gas is getting so high. I found I can fill my tanks at Sams Club and save .30 a gallon so if I put in 15 gallons that is a bit of a savings since I am usually in the area for other things anyway.

Well I'm off to the races. Have a great day!

we get all of our gas at Costco, that way our membership is just about paid for, plus we get 4% back on the gas. With that being said since we are retired we don't use a lot of gas. Our car insurance "allows" us 9,000 miles a year and that seems to be more then enough. 8-)

DH is going to lunch with me, very nice of him :D I was going to met a FB friend for lunch, but she cancelled last night. :( My feeling are hurt, but on the other hand it is going to save me 3 hours of driving. We had never met in person, we were meeting in a very public place. She is here from out of state and I have been seeing her on FB visiting with other people, but I think that they are people that she "really" knows. I thought that it was going to be interesting, but I was concerned, what if we really had nothing to say!!! Oh well.

Yesterday, I did bake a double batch of cookies so that I could bring her some. Because of my Kitchenaid stand mixer, it was so easy to make a double batch, I sent some cookies off to my step sister, she just got a new knee and to my "Sunday" friend, she has started chemo and will be home for a few weeks. I was proud of myself to go get to the post office right away, but it costs so much to mail them.

When I bake, I've started the night before by having my flour etc pre-measured and ready to go, but when I added the choc chips I forgot that I was making a double batch and the baking was half way done before I could figure out why the cookies did not look right, at that point i added more chips to the remaining dough, I am finding that I kind of like the cookies with fewer chips.

Jackie, your poor toe!

Clem, I remember you mentioning over the years what a good watchdog Bruce was and how you felt safe in the house with him. (((Hugs)))

I am taking an afternoon coffee break, having recently become enamored of the Swedish concept of filka, which is a break around 3 p.m. for coffee and a small snack. Since we now eat a very light supper, this is good.

Tomorrow morning first thing I have an appointment with a retina specialist about the problems I have been having lately. My regular eye doc found three or four problems at one whack, which was scary. Think I've been very good about not being anxious over this, since it's all beyond my control. Just got to see what we have to do to fix things.

Hope everyone has a lovely, frugal day, and all those who are ailing start feeling better.

Hi everyone!

I subbed again today. That's 5 days in a row. 🙂

The high school called me as I was driving into town to do some errands, I dropped off baby blankets to my friend's house, then dropped off dd5, ran home to grab some lunch items, and put H-dog into his outdoor kennel. I may keep my sub bag, badge & some light snacks in the car for the next time they call like today.

At least its a bright sunny day when I came out of the school.

Dinner tonight is to be Lentil &Ham soup. I want to make GF brownies later too.

H-dog has his training class today, right after I collect all school kids.
