Daily Check in Feb 15

Post by mbrudnic »

Good Morning frugal Friends,

Gt a "Happy Valentine's" text from Mom and Dad, DS1 Called me on his way home form work. DS2 texted "Thank you" for the gift card, so all-in-all, a good day.

It is wash, rinse, repeat around here today. I have most of my lunch ready. I cut up raw veggies form last night's dinner and enough for today too. I have a potion of Turkey ready too.

We are in a warm but rainy weather pattern.
Have a great day,
Maggie

Rainy here; whether it's going to last all day, I don't know. The weather report has been on the TV at least 6 or more times and I've not really heard it except for possible snow Saturday into Sunday.

Got up around 5:00A. Started going through some shelves in one of my closets. The things one collects over decades. I was hoping to start tossing some of the items out, but everything I touched so far I could use down the road as I get more involved in working on my web site and computer graphics. Oh well, I've gotta keep going and making the attempt at least.

Went to the Valentine's Day Breakfast sponsored by the town high school. It was nice. Had to avoid the "meats" it being Ash Wednesday, but managed to do OK.

I have no real plans for today. Will take a look at my housekeeping chores for yesterday and today and work on them a little bit later.

I just hope this country gets it's act together to end all the violence such as occurred yesterday instead of worrying what people who get food stamps eat.

Good lovely Florida morning all,

Today if hubs feels up to it, we will buy him some new shoes. We went to the foot doctor yesterday. The doctor was good and they trimmed his toenails. Way more trimming than I would. I asked a lot of questions about foot care as well. Very informative. And they said his insurance would allow for regular trimming. But hubs may not feel like going out today. He threw up dinner last night. The culprit was the wine. It has been 4 months since he had wine and well, looks like the days of wine are over. On low carb, many people comment that they lose their ability to process alcohol. That is happening to us.

The foot doctor is ordering special inserts contoured to his feet to help hubs walk. The doctor confirmed diabetic neuropathy and loss of sensation. It was another reminder that diabetes is a silent destroyer. Not something to fool around with.

I have been eating beef to excess the last few days. I felt conflicted about eating so much, but the diet philosophy is that protein will not hang on and become fat. So far, it appears to be correct. I seem to have better energy. I was so tired before.

Well the leaves coming off the trees buried my irrigation line, so I pulled it out yesterday and will have to reposition it after the end of leaf fall. While I was tugging on it, the neighbor across the street invited me to walk up to the produce stand. I quick changed my shirt and away we walked. I didn't see anything I had to have, but it gave me a chance to see how she was doing. The girl moved out and apparently took some of her cats to the humane society. There are still several there that didn't want to be caught. The neighbor is without a car because her daughter is using it after her car was totaled. Exciting times in rural land.

We are told that a check from mil estate will arrive today. I am still sad and having conflicts about the money.

I have a $10 off coupon for the shoes and a new coupon for the garden shop. Also a gift card for BulkNation(had a coupon for one). Hubs says I am getting coupon fever. ;) Just lucky I guess.

Well, off to start the day. Have a good one everyone. Don't let the news destroy your day. Today, I am grateful for my husband's improving health.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

Slept not too badly last night so I am a happier camper this morning.

I will be phoning the specialists office in the big city to set up an appointment for the next time he is here as soon as possible this morning.

Not going to be a totally frugal day as it is shopping, bill paying and allowance getting day. We had wet snow yesterday and with the drop in temperature things are going to be icy. Hubby isn't afraid of driving on the ice, he is afraid of me walking on ice and ending up splattered on the ground. But life has to continue with all those little daily chores.

I will do what housework I can (not going to chance my healing by doing something stupid) and spend the rest of the time relaxing and gaining weight from doing nothing.

Supper tonight will ne leftover stew served on slices of bread (would much rather have dumplings but one handed dumpling making is beyond me at this point).

Today I am grateful the snow seems to have stopped.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good Morning

Gray skies and dampness today. Was very foggy earlier.

i'm hoping to be able to walk out today without my boots. Its supposed to freeze again tomorrow and then i'll need them for the traction.

yesterday was a pleasant day weather wise with bight sunshine. My sister and i enjoyed a pub lunch and then the 'Wildlife Photographers of the Year' exhibition at the museum. It was tiring though - 100 images, so a lot of walking and standing to stare in awe. There was very little seating in the gallery.

When I went to wash my dishes last evening I discovered there was no hot water. There were few dishes, so i boiled a kettle of water for them, then boiled some more so i could wash myself. Someone came to fix the problem shortly after thankfully as i was not looking forward to no shower this morning.

I woke up too early this morning, so had plenty of time to finish reading Pride and Prejudice which is the 'back story' to Longbourn, the novel we are discussing at the library book club today. Since I'd already watched the A&E/BBC series of P and P, there were no surprises.

I will be going to dancercise today, followed by lunch with classmates, and then book club, probably followed by coffee with some of the book club people. Lunch will be the only expense as i have a gift card for the coffee shop.

i'm still waiting for the income tax statement from the bank and the receipt for my supplemental health insurance. otherwise I think I have everything needed to do my taxes. I'm in no hurry as i'll probably owe additional tax since i was required to take the first withdrawal from my registered retirement income fund last year.

Take care,
AnneX

We had nice sunshine yesterday and today back to fog and gloom

But it isn't cold. Which is not good. A little chill would be nice.

Not sure what I will do today. This weather makes me want to just stay in my pajamas, but I don't. All these animals keep me busy.

I was looking at some old memories from this day on facebook and what a difference - couple of years ago I was already out there planting tomatoes! This year, no way.

The dogs drag in a lot of mud too so I have to keep up with that.

Hope all have a great day
