Good Saturday morning all,

Today, I hope to finish the porch blinds. It has taken longer than expected because of interruptions and rest breaks from the heat. We had to buy the new fan motor for the ac. The old one was unreliable. $600. ouch. But ac is not an option here in Florida.

I called and set up an appointment for the free energy audit. I have hopeful that I will get many rebates from it as others have. It is several weeks away. The new windows are due in the last part of August.

Hubs has filled out the rebate forms for the paint I bought from Home Depot. We will see what happens next. We got the checking account statement that hubs was waiting for, so now he can do the monthly expense summary. The latest electric bill does not reflect the new to me freezer. Since it is old, it is probably expensive to run. However, the price was right.

I have put painting the door on the weekend plan. The weather must cooperate though. Lot of afternoon rains so far.

I have been looking for inexpensive pillow cases. I am shocked at the huge jump in bedding prices. Keep my eyes open for a bargain. I went to a couple of frugal sites to see what they say about cloth toilet paper. It looks like it is very doable. I would use them for girl wipes. Although many like flannel, I will try using the cotton tees in the recycle box. It should be interesting. I will put them in a delicate wash bag, so they don't get mixed up with the regular laundry and will be less likely to fray. Also, they used a small drip dry device that opens like an umbrella to dry them. Sounds like a good idea.

Reduced my thyroid medication. I was feeling over medicated. I think I will leave the endocrinologist and transfer to the GP. The co-pay is quite high for the specialist and I feel I need to have a doctor that sees the whole picture. Well, see her this coming week and discuss it.

Today, I am grateful that I am getting some projects finished. Have a good weekend everyone.

Not much new here. I have a long shopping list this morning, as last week I only bought essentials.

This week I have a lot of high dollar coupons on basic supplies so I will be taking advantage of the deals.

If I am able to take advantage of all my coupons I will save almost $20.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

Still very warm here, it didn't cool off much last night so w have had the air conditioning on all day.... I hate to think what our power bill will be at the end of three months (perhaps we will use less electricity else where, though I rather doubt it).

Youngest DS will be leaving at some point today. I hate when the boys travel and it is this hot, but they do need to get back to their respective homes and don't take any little used roads as shortcuts. I also make them phone or text when they arrive at home. Worried Mama here.

As far as frugal happenings, I will be going for my usual walk this morning (probably a bit shorter just because it is so warm), doing some dehydrating of herbs, working on the yarn stash, reading my on my ereader, and sending in the weekly scan for points (I even think that this week there is a survey that can be done for points as well). Trying to build up my points quickly so I can get more ereader gift cards before they stop having them in the catalogue again.

Meals as usual will be made here at home. I have some leftover chicken from last night that will be used up today. I will use up some of the romaine lettuce and make a chicken caesar salad for our supper. Nice and cold on this very warm day in July. Lunch will be catch as catch can as is usual around here.

I do need to bake some bread, but I may just wait until there is a place to plug the machine in away from the direct blowing of the window air conditioner. I think I have an idea, just don't know if it will work.

I will check in again a bit later as it seems our lovely little family is being invaded by gross spammers once again. Guess they found us.

Today I am grateful that there seems to be a bit of a breeze out today.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good morning all

Another bright sunny day. Had some weird dreams but I slept okay. Did have to get up before 7 to let the pack out, but what can you do?

The COD is supposed to cut the grass today. A task I will not undertake unless absolutely necessary. The yard is huge with all kinds of fencing and trees and drive way side walk on and on etc. I was laughing about it because since we've had so much rain everything is green. The abandoned houses around here have really tall grass. I said mine might make the abandoned house list!! Oh well.

I did pull up some sticker plants the other day. I wanted to do it again yesterday but the thought of getting sweaty stopped that. I just don't want to get all sweaty and dirty and have to shower and wash this head of hair all the time. One sibling that i call the lawn mower fanatic keeps cutting hers almost every week. I did the ultra short look already and nope - not again. She gets on my case cuz i don't mow. Hello - her yard is maybe 1/20th the size of mine. Would take her maybe 20 minutes with a push mower. Always frantic.

But i think it helps her to cope with her crazy hubby and daughter. Another relative posted that she is going to keep busy all day so she doesn't have to think of stuff. I told her why not sit down - think about the issues - get it out of the way. Then you can go about your day - skipping and laughing!

Hope all have a fun day - enjoy.

Good morning all.

I’ve been immersed in early New England genealogy. On Monday morning my genealogy club is having a class (free) on a very specialized topic, King Philip’s War, 1675-78. I remembered that I had an ancestor in that war but couldn’t remember the details. I found him. He is from my dad’s mother’s side of the family. He, along with three compatriots, was sentenced to death by his town for killing “Indian” women and children. Class should be interesting.

This afternoon I’ll use the treadmill at the rec center. I’m enjoying it.

It seems that I’m not doing much at mom’s house these days. Too hot outside but I will cut the grass in the next few days. Inside I still have decluttering but there are so many things I’m unsure how to declutter. For example, I’m not sure if Salvation Army would want lamps in good condition but with lampshades in poor condition. Other things too. I am trying not to throw away things that still have a useful life.

Have a good day.
