AARP??

Does anyone have an AARP membership? I have a chance to get one for $12 for a year. What discounts have you gotten that you were really able to benefit from? I don't want to shell out $12 and just get a magazine in the mail.

But - if there are discounts I will really use, that is different. I'm going to look on the website - buy my frugal friends are the BEST source of info. Thank you!

We consider that offer when it shows up in the mail, but so far, the answer has been no.
Haven't seen any discounts that I can use but can't get through AAA. I considered it when I was looking for a cell-phone provider (think the discount is with Consumer Cellular) but I ended up going with a better deal for me.
I intend to take another look when I'm closer to Medicare age or should we need a new dental plan.

Twice I’ve had free, one-year AARP memberships through Walgreens. A slip spit out of the register with my receipt and I mailed it in. I’ve never renewed. Not worth it in my opinion. The hotel discount might be worth it for someone who travels a lot and doesn’t have AAA.

Thank you Floricacatlover. I just saw in the Walgreens pamphlet that I can get a free membership with $15 purchase of Walgreens health and beauty products - so I might go and see what they have that I can use - just to try it.

It doesn't sound like something worth paying for. I don't travel, go out for meals, etc. very often.

This is interesting. If you can get it for free....try it.
DH and I have had AARP for years. We have used discounts. Their magazine has some good info in it.
I will say that it has paid for itself every year.
