Good morning all.

Don't know where the time is going, but it sure is moving fast. With the trips the town provided, July disappeared . . . poof! I did have a great time though. And here we are in August and 1/3 of this month is already gone.

It's hard to believe that I've been out of work for over 3 years now, though caring for my mom was a full time job also. I still need to get some kind of balance. I applied for an 8 hour a week part-time job but have heard nothing back. It's sad that they don't give people the opportunity even to interview for a position . . . they might be pleasantly surprised. I specifically applied for it because it was for only 8 hours a week and can't imagine anyone but a retired person being interested. I sent a follow-up note this morning, but don't expect to hear back from that either but I'll keep the occasional eye out as I don't want to spend any more time than that at an actual job.

Not that there is much on summer tv worth watching, I've actually cut back significantly on the time I spend watching it. I never missed GMA and now I rarely turn the TV on until Noon and that's only to watch the news. I suppose once the fall season starts again that will change but until then I guess I'm saving on my electric bill.

Still have to find the motivation to work on my Victorian web site. I've been filling up (or wasting depending on how you look at game playing) my time with playing games on the computer (shame on me). I have been reading and working on sudoku puzzles. I'm also creating some number find puzzles for my brother-in-law as the company who used to publish them is no longer going to do so. I'm also spending more time on keeping my apartment up, something I didn't have time to do before. Now that I do have the time and spend so much time at home, it pleases me to see everything in its place.

I've been trying to get out and walk when it's not too humid (or raining). Unfortunately it's supposed to rain today right through Monday with scattered storms on Tuesday and Friday. At least we can't complain about a drought season this year. It seems that all it's done is rain.

Oh well, time for me to make a list of things to do today. Have fun all.

Good Saturday morning all,

Today should be a productive day. Yesterday, I did a bit of decluttering and sent a few things to the charity bag. I also laid some concrete blocks for the walls of my courtyard patio. I did have a good supply of concrete blocks before I used 27 of them to build stands for the rain barrels. Now, I will have to buy more. I can only carry a few at a time in my little car, so it will stall the project a bit. However, there is a lot of ground leveling to do, so I should stay busy.

I am still avoiding dust or water since I had that eye injection just a few days ago. The doctors ask you to avoid such things for a while after the injection. So there are projects I must put off until later.

Today, I will wash the old tee shirts I soaked in borax water along with a regular wash load. These will be upcycled to around the house skirts, long sleeveless shirts and the sleeves to girl wipes.

Today, I will cook down a package of chicken thighs from the freezer. Then skin and debone them and chop them up for hubs salad meat. Also keep out 3 for chicken stir-fry dinner.

I chatted with the produce guy at the local Walmart market and he told me that they mark down many fruits and vegetables on Friday afternoon. I will have to remember that. Right now, I shop in the morning because I don't use my car ac and it is hot in the car in the Florida afternoons.

A couple of posters here have started figuring out how much a meal costs. I want to thank them. I am inspired by them to do it too. Most dinners come out to about $1.50/person or less. Hubs is impressed and I am please. It makes the effort feel more appreciated.

Today, I am grateful that I have an abundance of good food to eat. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

Still really hot and smoky around here. Awhile back today was supposed to be our hottest day this week. This has changed and now tomorrow is going to be. Then we have two days of slightly cooler weather and right back up. Hubby and I are hoping for cooler temps come the Saturday football game. If it is too hot we will probably not go as we are on the sunny side of the stadium... Fine for when things are cooler, not so good when things are really hot.

Today I need to get a bit done around the house, plus it is going to be way too hot to spend much time at all in the outdoors. I need to get out for my walk very early today or risk not getting out at all.

Frugally speaking today will be a no spend day, I will be cleaning house, cooking with what is on hand, perhaps sneaking out the door to put on a plum crisp (got lots of plums from the neighbour), and doing a quick pick of the garden. I am also researching how I can use the lavender that grew so well this year. Thinking of drying some, and using in sachets and finding a carrier oil and making some lavender oil with some as well. Hubby just shakes his head and smiles. He said pretty soon I would be starting to make my own perfume...I say not likely.

The pantry challenge is going well. I did not buy any meat while shopping on Thursday (not even sandwich meat) and have been using what I have and what I can pick out of the garden. Last night I used up most of the celery in the fridge to make cream of celery soup. Turned out very well, but the recipe I used did not make as much as I had hoped (more of those cook once eat twice meals I had hoped to complete). There was just enough left for one serving so I put it in a tinfoil container and froze it for youngest DS. Won't go to waste and DS will love having another homemade meal.

I need to send in my grocery scans. The points are adding up and I hope to be able to claim another couple of gift cards shortly. Free is great and the scans have become second nature now. I used to do more surveys on the site, but those come in fits and starts. For sure there is one a month, but I used to do at least 6 and at the most 10. Now I am lucky if there are three. Hopefully those will multiply when fall comes around.

Some trees are turning colour here already. I don't know if it means an early fall and winter, or if it means the trees are stressed from a lack of moisture. Hopefully we have a very long fall.

Supper this evening is going to be Pork chops, tinfoil potatoes and carrots, plus what remains of the green beans. Hopefully done on the BBQ.

Today I am grateful that the mornings are still cool enough to take even a short walk.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

I slept very well last night.

Today was scheduled to be shopping day but the person who helps me is sick. I am looking into other ways of going.

I just went and walked around the complex. I could tell that we got rain over night. How much I have no idea. The airport got .09 of an inch. The northern part of the county got more. It looks like I got about 1/2 an inch.

I still have not found the missing bottle of Amoxicillin. There were 4 capsules in the bottle. I ordered another bottle to have on hand. I need to take them before dental work. I can get more when I need them. I see the orthopedic surgeon, for my one year follow up on August 21.

This week Monday my grandson is coming over Monday afternoon. Tuesday, I have the PT evaluation for my left shoulder. Wednesday i see the ear specialist. My daughter is meeting me there, as his office is between her house and my apartment.

Goood morning all

An overcast morning. Looks like it rained last night. I didn't get to see or hear it. I was out. I slept until almost 8! That is unusual lately for me.

Going to a small community gathering at 11 so i'm getting ready.

Then the usual after that

Have a great day all
