Daily Check in Aug 14, 2018

Post by mbrudnic »

Good Morning friends,

The pile in my living room is growing. Tonight it will be transferred to my vehicle (and the contents of my vehicle will be transferred to my apartment). I was given 2 wardrobe boxes and another friend is going to save boxes for me. She works at Macy's stocking women's intimate apparel. Free is good.

I have breakfast, lunch and snacks packed for work.

Have a great day,
Maggie

Good Tuesday morning all,

Today, I will continue with my personal "Be orderly" challenge. When they put in the new kitchen floor, I had to take everything out of the corner hutch so they could move it. I set up a table in the spare bathroom and put everything on it. As I looked over the things on the table, I realized that I didn't need or want about half of them anymore. The table in the bathroom is now cleared off. Either has a new spot or is packed for charity. Today, I will do a bit of rearranging and find spots for my crockpot and vegetable steamer. The table set up is great for getting busy on my craft and recycle projects. Hubs closet is in my orderly sight this morning.

They forecast several days with little rain. As things dry out a bit, I can start back outside building my new patio. So this is the last half day of for sure inside work.

I have been reading about decluttering. The tip to just take one small piece at a time has been helpful to me. The pantry challenge has been helpful too.

Regular frugal things here. Turn off the coffee pot after our first cups and let the residual heat keep the coffee warm. Turn off the stove and let the residual heat finish cooking the eggs. Turn off lights and fans and save hand wash water for the flower tub.

Today, I am grateful for the energy and the focus to get things done. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all.

Maggie, what an exciting and busy time for you and your DS.

I almost never have trouble falling asleep but I tossed and turned last night. I will probably take a nap later. This morning I have a dentist appointment.

Yesterday’s shell earrings workshop was fun but not what I expected. It was beading so very hard on the eyes. The shells were tiny. The gal I went with is someone I met through a Facebook group. Seemingly nice with a lot in common but yesterday it was more clear that it is all about HER. Friendship should be a two-way street. I’ll meet her for breakfast on Thursday as we planned but I’m not sure after that.

I’m hoping to do a bit at mom’s house after the dentist. If there is cloud cover I’ll trim the second Ixora.

Have a good day.

I think my grandson had a good visit yesterday. We made Scotty dog shaped cookies with the disc in my cookie gun. I sent home about 2 full cookie sheets home with him.

I also gave him the tiny Houndeye I had knit him. He seemed to like it.

This morning I made oatmeal blueberry muffins. They are in the oven. When they are ready I will eat breakfast.

I have a PT evaluation for the arthritis in my shoulder. The vestibular therapy exercises is what made it start hurting.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

Very foggy this morning and another temperature drop. We are starting the day below the double digits which actually makes a pretty chilly start to the day.

I have my bone specialist appointment today and must remember to get x-rays first. I do so hope I did nothing to damage my wrist or forearm in the past two months. Really hoping that the fall off the ladder did nothing as well (though it has been stiffer and sore since that little adventure). My appointment is at noon so I should be able to get a bit done around the house before I have to leave.

My to do list is slightly smaller today, but I did run out of steam yesterday so one or two small chores were left for today. If they are not completed there is always tomorrow (that has an even shorter to do list) in which to get caught up.

Frugally speaking even though I have a doctor's appointment today there will be no spending. I am trying to get many days in a row to make up for two days of spending later in the week. Baking bread, doing household cleaning, washing rags and hanging them as well as the sheets outside will be my main frugal focus today. I am also trying hard to get back on track with my monthly menu. It was so hot last week that things got moved around and now I need to change things around again. This is so the proper meats and such get used first before the newer purchases do.

I may also cut the cardboard tubes to start my Christmas decorations very soon. I am doing a bit of embroidery that I set aside earlier when I was having strength and flexibility problems with my wrist. Now is the time to complete that project. While it is moving right along, there is actually more to embroider on this stamped runner than I thought.

I do plan on having a nice long walk as well. My shorter afternoon walk will be from the car in the usually over crowded hospital parking lot to the x-ray department and back to the car after my appointment with Dr. M is done.

Supper this evening is going to be the roast chicken that was just too hot to cook. I moved stuffed chicken into it's place. I want the chicken tonight because with some of the leftovers from it and a smallish bag of leftover ham, we are going to have a chefs salad later this week. Along with the chicken we will have the leftover potatoes from last night, green beans and a salad.

Today I am grateful that I am exactly who I am and don't have to try and be someone who I am not. I have noticed this happening more and more in those who have been allowed in my life. It is really quite difficult for me to grasp why people need to copy others lifestyles.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.
