Good morning folks,
Ready for another day at work. I have a meeting for my singles group tonight. I still have Chinese leftovers to take for lunch. I packed a whole box of books yesterday. I also did some grocery shopping.
Have a great day,
Maggie
Daily Check in Sept 10, 2018
Re: Daily Check in Sept 10, 2018
Good Monday morning all,
I am looking forward to today. I have tip toed around my delicate injected eye, avoiding water, dust and sweat. And no infection, so I should be able to get back to normal this week. Hooray.
I finished removing the mulch from the lean to shelter building and replace it with bagged marble chips. Not as fine as gravel, but also doesn't fly around when using a leaf blower. Now to move the remaining bags to the shelter for storage. I have my house perimeter in marble chips as recommended by the pest control people, but there are a couple of areas that could use a bit more. The mulch went into my new flower garden off the back porch. The old tree stump and the trip you up surface roots will all be hidden by the flowers growing in the mulch. I ran out of cardboard for weed barrier for that garden. So, I will have to wait to finish it.
The guy is supposed to come today and we move the sugarcane. I have cannas waiting in pots to go in their spot. I hope this guy works out. I do need the help of a strong back.
I will walk with my across the street neighbor today. I am a bit concerned for her. She is only a few years older than me, but seems to tire easily and breath hard when we are walking. She sounds like someone with a heart blockage.
Normal frugal things here. I will wash dishes by hand and pour the collected rinse water in my flower tub. The coleus is growing great in it right now. Huge. I will use the used coffee filters to wipe grease off the plates before washing. Reduces soap use. My new garden will need the used coffee grounds.
I am behind in planting my fall garden. I don't care. I am getting great sales on vegetables right now, so I would rather focus my time on other things. I have the paver patio to finish, a new irrigation line to put in and a lot of painting to do. The mornings are starting out cool and fall is coming.
Today, I am grateful that I was able to pick up those bags of stones and not hurt my back. Have a good day everyone.

Re: Daily Check in Sept 10, 2018
My granddaughter's wedding was wonderful, but the quick trip was just exhausting.
I am tired, but no longer exhausted. I did one load of wash, I needed to wash my dresses. I hung up the dress I wore to the wedding to dry as I did get some stains on it despite my napkin.
Last night I did little, but fix myself a bowl of cereal for supper. I took out the most important items from my backpack and suitcase. So today I need to finish unpacking.
I will be calling my Dr’s office in the morning. My shoulder still is bothering me. But the severe pain comes and goes.
We are still under a flash flood watch, no warnings at the present time. We still have several streets closed due to flooding. So far as of last night this is the fifth wettest September in History.

Good morning fellow frugalites,
Hubby and I have come up with a plan. I will be heading to my aunts on Wednesday (gives me a couple of days at home to do some work) and come back on Thursday or Friday. I will let him know before I leave. Saturday is another football game in the city, but I am wondering if Hubby would like to take his brother, just too much traveling for me. If V can't go I will go just so Hubby does not drive alone and we waste a ticket.
Today I will do all the laundry, sweep all the floors (they seem slightly gritty) and go shopping. This afternoon I have my Prayer Shawl ministry meeting, from 1 until 3. A busy day.
Tomorrow I will be making spaghetti sauce for the freezer, and perhaps freezing a couple more bags of tomatoes. We seem to have the garden that keeps on giving this year.
Last night Hubby picked some wonderfully ripe cantaloupe, and I picked cayenne peppers, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, more tomatoes, and a cucumber. I do think that within the next couple of weeks we will dig potatoes, and onions to store for as long as they last.
The rest of my day will be spent making more lists, getting a loaf of bread baked (though that could wait until tomorrow if I plan properly) and perhaps call a friend or two to let them know I am home for a bit.
Supper tonight hasn't even been thought about as of yet. I do have some leftover ham in the freezer as well as some leftover chicken. I may as well use one of those up. Perhaps curried chicken over rice or noodles, or ham pasties.... There will be leftovers for Hubby either way.
Today I am grateful for the warmer morning air. It was pretty cool up in the mountains, however the view more than made up for that.
Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Re: Daily Check in Sept 10, 2018
Good morning,
Just got Hubby up and moving for work and I can hear it is having a good rain outside this early morning. I don't know how long this weather will last but I am going to relish the fresh clean damp air on my way to work this morning.
I am contemplating quitting Facebook. It had already gotten to be pretty toxic during the 2016 election season and now it seems worse than ever with this whole Colin Kapernick thing. DH has a pretty strong opinion on this subject and he is normally a pretty docile, quiet fella, but I guess he had put out a couple of posts on how he felt about that subject. It started a flame war with one of his high school gal friends and after several opinionated sparring sessions she announced she could no longer be friends with him and unfriended him. Then my oldest daughter who lives in Canada and is always posting tons of anti-Trump stuff started in and was to the point that she was calling DH unnecessary names, etc., and was real nasty about it. I was staying out of it but telling DH to cool his jets and quit escalating the issue. My daughter crossed the line when she sent me a private message berating me and calling me nasty names. She told me she unfriended my husband! I *firmly* called out her BS and in a very firm and motherly way put her in her place. She always was a tough kid/adult and it takes that kind of strong stuff to be tossed back at her. She should know not to mess with Mom . I haven't heard back from her. I miss the old Facebook, pre-2011 days when it was just a friendly forum to keep up with friends and family. It is so full of fake news and divisiveness that I can't hardly stand to be on it anymore. Such a shame. I am truly grateful for this forum that has virtually no politics involved other than the very occasional post, and it is filled with friendly, like-minded folks who show concern for each other. Truly I am happy to be part of this
On a frugal note, meal menu is prepped for the next few days, been bringing our lunches and snacks to work and getting ready to haul out the recycling paper bin with the regular garbage for pickup. Had youngest DSD and her boyfriend over (sheesh they live next door) for dinner and we all very much enjoyed a tasty homemade meal last night, watching my driving habits which as saved me some noticeable money and staying focused on our budget. Well, off and running for the day, everyone take care

Very gloomy this morning. More rain.
As PennyC mentioned - one of the wettest September on record for this area.
I can't wait until they develop a weather control system. Get rain when you want, no blazing heat or tornados etc. Wouldn't' that be nice?
Doing the usual for a Monday. The pets have been out and are back asleep.
Its laundry day.
Have a good one.
