Hi!
I have been buying large lots of fabric from yard sales at great prices and I picked up another bunch today. I really want to get back into sewing again and maybe try making some things for myself. Can you give me some ideas on what you make, pictures, patterns etc? Either here or in your blog? I had stopped sewing because it became an expensive hobby but buying fabrics at thrift stores and yard sales is even cheaper than buying tops or shorts ready made from Kohls. Ii will be having a lot of fun sorting through all of this. I also enjoy making quilts.

Sure Bev. I will even give you a few sites of places you can get free patterns online. Just give me a bit to look everything up and copy down the web sites.

Bev, here are five of the sites I can find free patterns at and at times use.
www.allfreesewing.com
www.littlehouseliving.com
mellysews.com
premeditatedleftovers.com
marriedtoabmw.com
I also buy patterns when they are on sale from McCalls, Butterick, and Vogue. Simplicity patterns are very easy to use. You can buy the first three online for $1.99 each (your price since you live in the US, mine is higher due to postage and exchange). All you need to do is join McCalls pattern site.
Hope this helps you out a bit. Start with something easy, don't jump into waistbands, and zippers right away.

Bev,
I used to sew a lot but haven’t done much in years. But looking at Erin’s blog has made me want to sew. She has so many cute ideas - mostly household items not clothing. Keep scrolling after her food items and you’ll see her suggestions, most of which use only a small amount of fabric.
