Good morning fellow frugalites,

I was sure someone would have started the thread by now, but I guess not.

Cold today (well below freezing with a bit of a windchill) but it is supposed to warm up by mid week. Right now I am wrapped in a shaw, slowly sipping my morning coffee.

I have the usual chores to accomplish today so I will need to get started on those very soon. Prayer shawl ministry this afternoon so what isn't done will need to wait until tomorrow. I am supposed to go to the doctors tomorrow but the appointment is actually 2 weeks too early for my cholesterol blood tests to be taken again. I will probably cancel and make it for two weeks further on. Doctor will get sick of seeing me otherwise. I will however let them know to make a notation that I have heard from the specialist so she is aware.

Jobs for today include the frugal tasks of making bread, using up cleaning products (where did they all come from..I swear the cleaning products I have are all having babies), and of course continuing to use up the meat freezer as much as possible. The using up of the freezer is so so. I swear I never realized I had that much meat in the house. Mind you I really have been cutting down on meat consumption as a whole. Smaller portions and more veggies are what is being served now.

Laundry, a regular Monday task, will be done as frugally as possible, things hung on lines downstairs so that the dryer is not in constant use. A bit of savings here and there on electric will save more in the long run.

I have spent some time on line finding new recipes (or at least different ones) to use the Instant Pot. I know there are lots of Facebook pages devoted to the use of this appliance, but I kind of like what I am doing. I also noticed a small book on Kindle that is free, so I may take a look into getting that (free is good). I made a pork roast in it yesterday and it really was moist, tender and delicious. I think the more I can use it the better I will understand the various cooking temperatures and meals will always turn out right (had some epic failures as well).

Supper tonight is old fashioned comfort food. I plan on meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and peas. Perhaps some of that leftover salad as well.

Today I am grateful for indoor plumbing. I would not want to be washing or running out to use the privy at this time of year (really don't know what made me think of that this morning).

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good Morning,

More rain here. Typical for November. A no sun November is not unusual. Yesterday was pretty here and got into the 50's. Stop by to see my Aunt. I sat by her bedside and said some prayers. Mom was there, of course. Then I was on a mission to pick up sugar and canning lids to make hot pepper jelly. I also cleaned out my tub drain. I have a pop up drain and think hair. I need something to go over the drain to catch the hair. Have not found one int he stores yet. Probably should just order one one line. I got hone and was grabbing something to eat when Dad called and told me to bring over my broken picture frame for him to fix. Then he called DB1 to borrow a clamp. So it is setting up on his workbench. Mom got home just before I arrived. I had dinner with them.

Have a great day,

Good Monday morning all,

The weather is warming up some and traditional Florida winter weather is here. Lows in the 60's and high around 80F. Blue skies. My military son flies in today for a visit before he is deployed to the Middle East. I respect his desire to serve our country, but I do remain apprehensive as any mom would be.

I woke up mad at my old dance partner. I asked my walking partner if she just wakes up mad at someone and she said yes. We had a nice discussion on that. I know I have a lot of emotions right now with my friend in the hospital and everything. So perspective is needed, emotions managed and lips shut.

I spoke with my neighbor who has back problems. She recommended a back brace and I had hubs order it. I hope it will give me more confidence when lifting heavy objects. I hate being limited to 40 lbs.

Tonight, I will feed the boys leftover roast beef. My son and his dad both like beef falling apart. I don't. This beef was from from a day ago and I will warm it up in the crockpot, add vegetables and it should be a win with them. I put aside a piece of beef for me to heat up that is not so well cooked.

Normal frugal may be curtailed with son here. But that often is the problem with company. They consider frugal things like saving hand washing water to be odd.

I am grateful that I have family and that my son visits. Have a nice day everyone. And if I don't post for a week or so. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I stripped my bed, I have the clean bottom sheet on the bed. I have to fold the clean sheets.

It is a cold off and on rainy day. I have a bin of stuff to take up to the club room. Including the door prize I got at the Fall Fest. someone will love it. Neither my daughter or I like it .

Once the sheets are done I hope to be able to take the giveaway items up to the club room.

Argh!! It ate my post!!

Am home sick, no subbing today. I hope the HS secretary was able to fill my easy 2 hour job. I may call in sick on tomorrow’s sub job too. ☹️

Ds10 has declared himself sick too, so he’s downstairs with dd5 in his room.

I’m going to try for a nap before time to take dd5 to school in 3 hours.

Am thankful for my warm bed today.
