Trader Joes

Hello Frugal friends,

I'm wondering who shops at Trader Joe's and what kinds of items they sell there? Do they have Gluten-Free?

I need freeze-dried fruit, and TJ was recommended to me as THE place to get it.

Thanks. :)

Gayle, I don’t know a lot about Trader Joe’s but I do know that they carry gluten-free items. Also a lot of organic. Most (or maybe all) items are their own store brand.

There is one in my area but I’ve only been there once when it first opened and mom was with me so I did not get a chance to really look around. It is a bit away from where I live but I do want to go again. So many people LOVE TJs and have favorite items.

TJs is somehow related to Aldi. I’m not sure if it’s the same company or the brother’s company, something like that.

I've only been there a few times. It is in the city and quite a distance, but if I lived right there, it would be my favorite store.

I've been there a few times, but there isn't one where I live, now. LOVE Trader Joe's.

Man, if you like cheese, THEY HAVE ALL THE CHEESE! Never saw so much cheese in my life, lol

Here are some gluten free items on their website....but I don't know if they carry each of these items all the time

Aldi was one German company owned by two brothers. In the late 60's or so, the brothers disagreed about whether to sell cigarettes, so they split the company in two and divided their stores throughout Europe between them based on geography.

Aldi Nord (north) and Aldi Sud (south). Two entirely different companies.

In the 70's, Aldi Sud opened stores in the US.

Also in the 70's, Aldi Nord bought the chain of California-based Trader Joe's, But Trader Joe's still operates independently from Aldi Nord.

HOWEVER, Aldi Sud then opened their own chain of Trader Joe's stores in Europe, LOL

These two brothers really hate each other, and in the early 70's one of them was kidnapped.

So there are two Aldi companies, and each owns a different Trader Joe's company. The Aldi's in the US does not own the US Trader Joe's

Thank you for the links.

The nearest TJ is 3 hours drive away, but I’ll be in that area Friday when going to Dstepmom’s. Perhaps I should just plug it into Google maps, and go see what is there.
