I guess this is like many other things. Pay more or make do with less. I don’t really watch Disney shows/movies so I won’t miss that programming. But I will miss some of the older broadcast shows if they disappear.

Still, I think that Amazon Prime and Netflix have better original content than most of the broadcast channels. (I’m on the last two episodes of Patriot on Prime. Great show.) I’ve never gotten into HBO shows like Game of Thrones because I don’t want to pay for them and don’t feel right using a friend’s log in info.

Bottom line is that I’m not going to pay more money. If I have to, I’ll stop and stop various streaming services. Right now I’ve stopped Netflix and don’t miss it.

I've been noticing this trend for a while ... the studios and networks and various sports franchises have decided that, Hey, there's money to be made! Let's get a piece of the pie!

I suspect we'll get to a point where there will be no free broadcasts, and we'll have to pay for everything we watch/listen to.

About all we can do is decide what we want to watch/how much we're willing to spend. I tend to pop in and out of services. We buy one show from Amazon; I'll take Netflix again when the next season of 'The Crown' begins. Right now we have Hulu, though we aren't watching a lot on it at the moment.

I only watch the original programming on both channels as well as British, aussie and Scandinavian series and they aren't likely to.go. people will just have to choose what's important to them. I have 20 shows an both netflux and amazon watchlists, but no desire for hulu, and probably wouldn't join Disney. I tried YouTube pay for a free trial and dont see what the deal is.

I have been expecting this. Someone is always looking to be greedy with their profit.

As more food for thought - I just found out that there is a company that has bought out one of the movie theaters in a town 30 miles from here (everything is owned by corporate AMC around here). This theater charges a flat $8.00 rate for entrance a regular size soda and a regular size popcorn. If you want food refills they are a $1.00. I think this is the greatest thing I have ever heard. We love the theater experience and no, watching at home is NOT the same thing. I am thinking we might not mind a ride when we want to see a movie. We are retired and our time is plentiful. I want to support this kind of corporate behavior.

Maybe a movement like this and home streaming company greed will give the movie theater industry a chance at a comeback.

I dunno. I dont see it as greedy. I see it as MY opportunity to see original programming without commercials. I am more than happy to pay ten bucks apiece for Netvlix and Amazon not to have commericials even without the original content-like I say I have 25 options on both watchlists and none of them are movies. I don't think anyone expects that everyone will subscribe to everything-People will chose the platform that has the most they like. I did a free trial of Huly so I could see the first season only of the Handmaid's Tale, and then I decided that we all their new programming I wasn't interested. People probably feel the same way about other things.

We also go to the movies and I am about, as we speak to join the AMC movie deal where I can see up to3 movies a week for 19 bucks. Of course popcorn and soda are required for me so,,,,,,,,,,
