Daily Check-In, Saturday, March 16, 2019

Post by floridacatlover »

Good morning all.

Jackie, glad you are home.

It is a dreary morning here. I think it is supposed to clear up this afternoon. We have a “cold” front coming through if you can call it that. Highs will only be in the low 70s. We are wimps.

I think I’ll finally finish my taxes today by TurboTax. From what I’ve read, I think TT has clamped down and I will have to upgrade to a pay version to file schedule D, Capital Gains.

Yesterday after meeting my friend got coffee, I ran into a nearby Bath and Body Works. I had a coupon for a free 3 oz. travel shower gel. Nice!

I rented Green Book from Redbox last night. (I’ve collected enough points for three completely free rentals so used points for the one rental.) Really enjoyed the film - probably the best I’ve seen this season.

I need to catch up on some email correspondence today and then will either read or continue watching season 2 of Marvelous Mrs. Maisal.

Have a good day.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

Not in as much pain today as yesterday, but still walking and bending very slowly. I am also still spotting quite a bit (good thing I knew this could happen and bought things to take care of the problem). I have a list of things to watch for and strict instructions to follow if any of them occur. Monday I am to phone the specialists office and set up an appointment in 4 weeks. As I left the room the I told the nurse who was walking me out that the waiting was the worst part. She informed me that if the specialist thought this was bad he would have let me know immediately. That made me feel a bit better (not much though). The journey is not quite completed as of yet. Both the DSs feel the same as me. Hubby just keeps asking me how I feel and if the pain/cramping is gone (I think he is upset that we didn't get a definitive answer as of yet).

This was the most uncomfortable and actually painful thing I have ever had. I would much rather have given birth or broke another bone. It hurt that much!!. When I came out of the back room Hubby said I was white and looked like I was going to faint. No going to Costco for K cups or waiting around for youngest DS to get off work, I just wanted to come home. So that is what we did.

I shall be sticking pretty close to home today as I do not want/feel like doing anything. I do have a few chores to do, but I hope to curl up with my knitting, hand quilting, and a good book. Those are the things I do for fun along with hiking and taking long walks. Really this small city of just over 12K does not have any free/inexpensive activities for people my age, we more or less have to make our own. This is probably why I started the prayer shawl group at church, and I have been thinking about starting a book club as well (the one at the library, which I was a founding member of) now caters to a much younger group.

So now you all know my day's plan. Really not much different from other days around the old homestead. I am so looking forward to planting season, after the dreary and very cold winter we have had planting flowers, vines and veggies have never looked so great. I need to purchase new plants for the perennial bed. We dug it all over last fall as for some reason we could never get rid of the quack grass no matter what we did. I need to pick up new lily bulbs and perhaps a few other bulbs as well.

Hubby and I also need to decide what to do with the area by the house where we had Hosta growing. The last couple of years has seen those poor plants looking pretty sickly in fact one died so there is a big barren spot. I am very tempted to pull them all out and just put pots of plants down the side. I need to speak to Hubby about that.

Supper tonight is going to be soft sided tacos. Something we have not had in a very long time.

Today I am grateful to be home and have another step on this journey completed.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Don't worry I merged the posts together. They go in order of time posted.
