Good morning ...

Jackie, glad you are home ... be gentle with yourself. Still sending good thoughts your way...

Florida, I know what you mean about the tax software. Ran into the same thing over filing Schedule C (self-employment) with another brand.

Sunny today, so things always seem a bit better ;) But it's cold with more snow predicted.

Back still achy, but at least it didn't wake me up during the night. I did wake up at 3:30 a.m. because it was cold. DH had turned off the heat when he ran the fireplace last night — forgot to turn it back on. So got up and did that.

Got my shopping in yesterday, so no need to go out today. So I think I'll do some quiet productive puttering. Dinner will be leftovers ... hockey's on tonight, and may tune into a spring training game this afternoon.

Yes we are wimps here in the South

It is going to be "cold" this week. The highs maybe in the 60s. The COD even turned on the heat last night. I have to say, it felt nice and cozy.

Maybe it was the Benadryl talking? I did take some last night. I was getting the sniffles and figured might as well get some sleep too. We are expecting all kinds of pollen to start flowing in with this cold front. It has been breezy.

I slept very well. I feel so relaxed this morning. The sun is trying to come out. There are clouds but it isn't overcast.

Hope my tomatoes survived.

All have a great day

Good morning all.

After enjoying two relatively warm days, today is a bit chilly at mid-40s but certainly endurable. Looks like we're going to be in the 40s until the end of the week and then temps rise to the 50s - SPRING!

Finally starting to work on my web sites again. Want to learn the newer HTML coding so I found a book at a local library so that I could get a head start on the techniques until I get the one I bought. There's a lot of material in its 200 plus pages and would be better to have it in my home library so I can pull it out any time I need it.

Did my taxes the old way by hand; not comfortable with e-tax filing. Always afraid that I picked up a keylogger on my computer and the world will have my SS number, although thanks to the Equifax breach, it probably does.

Got my NYS tax refund the other day and am supposed to get my Fed refund around the 19th. I will put the Fed tax refund in my savings, but am spending the NYS one as I need a wireless router. I also ordered installation with it because I am not good at the "hardware" end of computing. They will also add it to up to 4 devices which is great because that's what I have - 2 tablets, laptop and cellphone. Not that I can't add the connection myself, but as long as it's included in the install fee I'll let them do it.

Had tossed the idea around about going out for corned beef and cabbage or buy the meal they offer for 2-3 people. Finally decided on making the meal myself. Instead of spending $20 or $30 on it, my cost comes to under $4. I'm going to be making it today instead of tomorrow since I can almost taste it right now.

Every March there is a Restaurant Week where you can sample the more expensive restaurants at a fraction of their cost. I almost made a reservation for lunch at one of the local steakhouses and I still might. I will be able to get the same meal for $23 that normally would cost $55. I'm hesitating but not exactly sure why, perhaps it's because I'd be going alone. Still have no idea as to why Lois just decided to stop seeing me, but then again maybe it's better that I don't. If I don't do it this time, I will put on my calendar for next year.

Will be going out for my walk today. Now that the weather is getting warmer it's easier to do it outside then to try to do it in my apartment.

Well have a wonderful day everyone.

Good Saturday morning all,

I really did not want to get out of bed this morning. I worked my tail off in the yard yesterday. Fortunately, we had a big lunch because I was too tired to eat more than a tomato for dinner before bed. Too tired to eat. Then about 1 am, a police helicopter hovering overhead woke me up and "Christmas" lights danced on the wall across from the window. Sure enough, a police car, fully lit up was parked in front of my house. I got up and watched from the windows. I had hoped there would be a parked car or something similar, but no, spotlight was scanning the houses. A bad guy creeping through the neighborhood. So I checked all the doors and windows and watched. Finally got hubs up in case we had to flee suddenly for whatever reason. The police car went down the street and then came back and eventually parked in front of snowbird's house. Bet she was thrilled! I finally went back to bed and told hubs he was on watch. Eventually the helicopter left. But morning came too soon.

Yesterday was productive. I finished filling all the trashcans with leaves from the south ditch and then mowed the whole area south of the driveway. Then I did another blow of leaves on the north side of the driveway. I did that 2 weeks ago and mowed, but there was another and hopefully last dump of leaves. I raked most of them up into piles, the sun set and I dragged in covered with dust. I showered, ate the tomato, took my evening calcium pill and went to bed.

Today, I will take those piles and put them in the north flowerbeds as planned. Then cover them with mulch. It appears that we have one more day or at least a half day before the weather change and possible rain arrives.

I discussed with old dance partner doing something at Christmas time. With no family around, Christmas kind of feels lonely. Old partner is especially bothered by it. Well, I researched the options and have an idea. We go camping in the Florida Everglades, far from the Christmas music and commercialism. Hubs agrees. He can't camp anymore and he is beginning to realize that I need a very physical environment to be happy. So we will see how that goes. He said he would be glad for the privacy and being on his own so to speak. Win-win.

Today, I am happy. The yard is looking better. Tonight will be ground beef burgers and tomorrow as the weather cools down, crock pot turkey. Life is good. Have a great day everyone.

I agree with several of you about turbo tax. Hubs thinks the changes in the tax law and the imperfect turbo tax is what messed him up this year. He has been advised to just let the IRS tell him what to do. Even at the worst, we will get a refund, just smaller than turbo tax said.

I slept pretty well on my new mattress. I did wake up earlier then I would have like but I felt rested.

My shopper will be taking me shopping this afternoon instead of in the morning. I do have a dress wash in the washer, I am knitting and watching some TV shows I recorded as when they come to instal the Fibre they may replace my DVR. If they do I will lose all I have currently recorded.
