Jackie,
trying to post the link

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/244637/lime-pickles/

This is the way I make them, except I add 2 sticks of cinnamon broken .
When you soak and drain the cucumbers, be warned...it has a powerful odor, LOL.

These were my mom and dads all time favorite and in fact the whole family loves them.
Good luck.

Good morning frugal folks,

Today hubs goes in for a cataract related procedure. Apparently, some 30% or more of those with cataract lens develop a pocket of cloudiness behind the lens. This pocket needs to be "poked" with a laser. While that is going on, I will head over to the nearby Walmart and buy a car cover for my car. Mostly it will be to keep the leaves and acorns from the big tree off the car. They seem to find lot of crevices to get stuck in.

Last night near dark, my neighbor with the spinal problem knocked at the door. She had a piece of plumeria in her hand and said this is for you. She then thrusted the wilted stick at me and told me where to plant it. She is on a trial implanted tens unit and says she feels great. But the unit is removed today and I guess she is dreading the return of pain. It will be several months before she can get one permanently installed. It is unfortunate that it will take that long. She is on Obamacare and she feels that is part of the problem. I just listen.

It sure is hot right now. The nights don't drop below 80F and mean my ac runs at night as well as the day. After finally seeing the monthly electric usage drop, I don't think it will stay down this month. Hubs is now concerned about our communication costs. Well, we don't have cable or Netflix and I don't want to give up the landline because so many contacts would have to be contacted. Medical, financial etc. Some expenses are just there. Oh well.

Today, I am grateful for air conditioning. Have a good day everyone.
The Affordable Health Care is not perfect. But it is better than no health care.

I know what it is like to be uninsured and worry every single day about a medical emergency. While uninsured I paid out of pocket for laser eye surgery to repair a torn retina. 16 years ago that was $2,105 I have no idea what it would be today. 19 years ago I also paid $1,600 combined to the Dr and surgical center. to have a very painful cyst on my right hand removed.

My late husband had great health insurance for the family. But since he was 54 when he died, I was only eligible for 3 years of COBRA.

I don't know if you are aware that the uninsured pay much more than those that are insured pay both in premiums and co-pays.

I now have Medicare it isn't perfect but it is better than nothing.

I am very tired of your putting down everyone who doesn't agree with you. If I get banned from the forum for this so be it.

I know I am not the only one who feels this way.

I had a pcp who swore at it, LOL, but there were some others he didn't like dealing with, either. Apparently many are slow to pay.

My eye specialist told one of the really big (starts with an Ae...) companies to take a hike 2 years ago because they wanted him to use a different product for some injections he does, he told them he wouldn't compromise his patients' health over Ae...'s preferences, they made a threat to drop him, he said "go ahead. " He lost over 200 patients. But the place is still hopping every time I'm there. I have to pay for him out of pocket because DH's employer only offers Ae..., and I'm not changing doctors, this guy is too good.

My dermatologist won't deal with them, either. Maybe one day DH's employer will leave them again in favor of a provider who doesn't make the top tier doctors irate. I don't see either dr very often, thankfully, but out of pocket gets a little pricey.

DG,
I believe you are well aware that you incite anger in most of your posts. (Very passive aggressively). You know just what you are doing . . .

Good morning all,

A busy week ahead. I have yard duty today, Wednesday and Friday. Tomorrow I have a meeting at the school I will be working at on Mondays. So Thursday I will claim as MY day. A friend of mine who just retired is already finding out that she has to pencil in days on her calendar for days she is claiming for herself.

I never did hear anymore on the possible job offer for the afternoons so I kind of hope it doesn't materialize. I would rather sub but if it does come to be I might just accept it. I have gotten used to spending more time at home and I am not bored. Lots to watch on TV while crocheting. Plus with DS and I both on the weight loss bandwagon I am paying closer attention to what we eat and the amounts. He has lost almost 30 pounds this summer. I am just getting started. I like doing the yard duty jobs because I get my walking in for the day.

I have a chicken baking, it is almost done. I will take it out and put in the fridge to cool for when I come home from work. Since some triple digit weather is forecast for the week I wanted to get the oven use done early this morning.

You are right randamax. She calls it Obamacare and she has to pay like $800 a month for it.She doesn't consider it a frugal choice. She doesn't get to keep her doctors. She seems to have a new one every month and that annoys her. She talks about it a lot and I figure she was mad about that and that is why she pushed this plant in my face. I have medicare, so I only know what she tells me. It is tough out there for people under 65 in the US. I didn't realize I couldn't share that information about her experience here.
