Good morning ....
Cloudy and very fall-like today with some rain expected.
Add me to the group who didn't sleep well last night ... just restless for some reason. (And DH set off the house alarm when leaving for work this morning )
Handyman says he can't take the painting job, but recommended a painter and sent contact info. So someone else to call tomorrow.
Today, have lunch with former co-workers. Anything else will depend on the weather ...

Re: Sept 8, 2019 Daily Check-in
Good Morning!
I was up a bit early this morning, but nowhere to go since I went to Mass last night and then to the Italian Festival. I spent some time with an Aunt, Uncle and cousins on my Mom's side and then went a spent some time with the same on my Dad's side. It was fun. I bought a whole bottle of wine ($15) thinking I'd share, but no one was interested. So I brought it home. I could have a glass of it each night without feeling any after effects.
I slept well. I got up, hoping to find my Sunday newspaper at my door. I finally broke down and subscribed. My Dad had shared his subscription with me for online access and I was buying the Sunday paper. The subscription offer saved me a $ a week on Sunday edition and could keep my out of the store on Sunday mornings. But Alas, no newspaper. My credit card has been charged for the month, so I called and reported the delivery issue and requested a replacement copy using the automated telephone system.
I have the various quilt pieces on my living room floor. I need to so 2 pieces together for the backing. I am trying to decide if I need to stitch together the 2 pieces of batting. I am leaning towards not. I will spray baste, then turn it so I do not need to put binding on the whole thing. I have not perfecting my binding technique, so if the quilt is small enough, I like the turned look. Then it is on to the actually quilting. I should be able to do enough quilting so the pieced batting does not matter. Maybe I'll practice some free-motion quilting.
Have a great day.
Maggie

Re: Sept 8, 2019 Daily Check-in
Good morning. I love to pop back in here from time to time and see so many familiar “faces.”
Idk if you remember me, but if you do, hello.
Quick update on my life, DH has spent quite a bit of time unemployed or underemployed over the last few years. I closed my business in WY because although we need the income, the cost was very high to my sanity. It’s put a strain on our finances to be certain, but it will get better. I now have both kids in college (ugh) but I am very proud of how well they are doing. I am running a small business here in KS and still have the farm. We are raising a small herd of cattle and have a few chickens, pigs, goats and ducks.
Today I will pick blackberries if any are ready and I will pick more apples from my little orchard. We lost the peach trees this year in the storms. I am sad about it as this was the year they would be producing. I did not plant a veggie garden this year as I was busy moving DD to college and we took a 16 day trip to Ireland and Scotland before she went. I knew I wouldn’t have time to tend it. My eating habits are suffering as a result I’m afraid. Of course, since I now spend the majority of my life at home alone, I cook less. I have gotten in the habit of making one big meal per week and then putting meal sized portions in the fridge. I save some of the meat to “repurpose” into something else later in the week and I’m eating a lot of eggs as it’s easy to cook for one. When DH is home we cook more and I stash a few things in the freezer.

Re: Sept 8, 2019 Daily Check-in
Good morning all.
I am one of the lucky ones and slept very well last night.
Today I’ll go to mom’s house and probably work inside. I’m finding it easier to declutter things now. My plan is to go over there early Monday morning to cut the grass. We’ve had very little rain so I’ll see today if I think it needs it.
Yesterday I ordered a Roku Streaming Stick + from Target. I still had a $50 gift card so only about $3.50 charged to my Red Card. My Roku is old and I’m considering signing up for Hulu Live for $44/month. I’ve been without any TV channels since Feb. when I put my cable on seasonal hold. It kicked back on on Sept. 1 (in time to follow Hurricane Dorian) but I can get so much more through Hulu for the same price.
Rinty, I see that Amber Heard quit the Cabinet. Whatever happens with Brexit I’m enjoying watching Boris squirm.
Have a good day.
