Daily Check In August 9, 2020

Post by HappyDaze »

Good Morning. Up with the sun. Dogs have been out and are sleeping soundly again and I'm enjoying coffee. Weather is beautiful. I have some cooking for the week to do today and it will be a zero spend day.

I also have a book I want to finish - it's called Old School and was written by Bill O'Reilly and Bruce Feristein. The premise of the book is that if you're not "old school", you're a "snowflake". I do NOT agree with all that authors have to say - but it is very entertaining. Got it for $1 at Dollar Tree, will put it in my parents' sale on Labor Day weekend and try to get .25 cents back out of it.

I'm also working on another book - Chicken Soup for Your Soul - Count Your Blessings. I just read a story or two now and again from it. I got it at the thrift store back in January.

Another lazy day on tap - I am more than fine with that. Happy Sunday to everyone.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

Sun is shining, the mourning doves are calling and it is just the right kind of morning for my daily walk (though I am seriously considering taking today off). It is also the perfect morning to do some work in the yard, dehydrate more herbs, and blanche the beans I picked yesterday. Just a couple of additions to the list for today.

I have a dental appointment at 2 pm tomorrow, and as the time slowly approaches (heck the time is flying right at me) as usual I am getting more and more nervous and upset. I am also getting worried about my surgery come the fall, as there has been an uptick in cases of Covid-19 in the city where the operation would take place. I really do hope it will not be cancelled once again due to a major outbreak.

We got a call from one of Hubby's brothers that his oldest sister is in the hospital suffering from a heart condition (not Covid-19 related). Rather it is something that causes your heart beat to accelerate to great speeds. This is atrial something..... My Dad suffered from this as well and the brother who called says he has had a few times this has happened to him. The sister will be seeing a specialist early next week and hopefully they will find out the cause.

Frugal happenings here on the old homestead will be working in the garden (probably picking more cukes), of course the dehydrating, taking my daily walk, and the biggie not spending any cash.

Off to start my day now by finishing reading the forum, and drinking the last of my coffee. I will check back later.

Today I am grateful that someone remembered to phone us about Hubby's sister.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good morning all.

Not much going on today. Finished another book yesterday, the second one this week with a third being about 1/3rd through. I can't believe how much reading I've done since March. I haven't done any coloring this week so I will probably start a new page today.

Tonight's dinner is spaghetti.

Now here's a day most of us can wrap ourselves around; today is designated as "Book Lovers Day" which is sometimes also celebrated on the first Saturday in November. Not only is it a great hobby, it's educational as well as relaxing.

Have a wonderful day.

Jackie,

I am sorry you feel nervous about seeing the dentist. At my dentist, I had to pull up, and call the office to say was there. The hygienist came out to my car, took my temperature and asked if I had any symptoms. The Hygienist and the dentist wore a mask and a face shield. Most offices make sure the employee do not have a temp or other symptoms and are careful to sanitize and sterilize where appropriate. I think if they keep you out of the waiting room, their protocols should be effective.

When I had my blood work & then my mammogram done in the last few weeks, I was screened just inside the door at the office building, asked about symptoms had my temp taken, etc. I was given a round sticker with the day's date on it so as I moved through the complex.

I will say a prayer that you will be fine and your anxiety reduced.

Maggie
