Daily Check in March 30, 2021

Post by mbrudnic »

Good Morning Frugals,

I have a non-work call at 7. It is for the high school technical Committee.

Last night I took a 3 mile walk. I hope to do the same tonight. We are supposed to reach 70 today. We are looking at a dig in temps on Thursday, Baseball's Opening day. Of course. What is Opening day in Cincinnati without the threat of snow, coats, hats and gloves. LOL.

Needless to day, I did not trim t-shirts.

Have a great day,
Maggie

Good morning fellow frugalites,

Did not get much done yesterday, instead spent most of the day waiting for calls or trying to figure out why I was being booted until the 10th of next month for my vaccine while my sister who is almost 4 years younger and was booked behind me as well as my BIL got put ahead of me. Neither has a medical reason for that happening. Hubby got booted as well (not as long though) and then got put back on his original date. I know our shipments from Europe are slow, but really when rescheduling they should look at ages and when people are booked....not just move us willy nilly to where ever they please.

I also spent time on the phone with my specialist. I am to leave the stitches alone (really). I think I may be phoning my own general practitioner and seeing what she says.

So today I will be baking bread, and baking the pie I was going to make yesterday. I hope to do a bit of sewing as well. It is still too stormy out (well really windy) to go for an outside walk so I will be walking indoors today. That isn't my preferred way of walking but I will do what is necessary.

I was going to go shopping today but now will wait until early Thursday morning as my injection has been moved. It will be bank for allowances, pharmacy for Hubbs eye drops and groceries. I may try on my own as there is very little I need pick up and nothing really heavy. As long as they don't fill the bags too full I will be great (will remind them at the check out).

There are hanging clothes to fold as well today, a desk to clean, food to bring up from the freezer downstairs, mending and ironing to do as well. I should easily keep myself occupied today if I manage to get my list completed. Most things are just 15 or so minutes to do so I should easily get them done.

This posted on me so I am editing right now. Perhaps this means I am getting a bit long winded.

Supper tonight is going to be some spaghetti and meat sauce served along with a Kale salad.

Today I am grateful that I managed about 5 hours sleep last night. My brain had trouble falling back asleep when I woke up at 2.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good morning, Maggie and Jackie. We're in the time of year when there's a 35 degree difference between the temp on leaving for work and getting home, so I'm either cold or hot. Right now I'm freezing in my work office.

DH has been on-call this week and things blew up last night. He wound up sleeping in the living room when he finally had a chance to sleep. I don't sleep well without him, so I'm groggy too. Well, that's what they make coffee for.

On the frugal front, I dug around this morning and discovered that the academic rate on the digital version of The Washington Post is $1 a month, not $9 as I had thought previously. We're currently paying $10 a month, so I'm going to buy a staff subscription and save a few bucks. Every little bit helps.

Oh, and some good news: I received a tiny pay raise yesterday. Just 50 cents an hour, but the way I look at it, that's almost an extra week of groceries every month, or two extra house payments a year! The way the announcement was worded, the raise did not seem to be on merit (Heaven forbid!) but because the system underpays its employees compared to what they could make in the real world, and for some reason it has decided to try to catch up. Possibly because people need to work for money, not t-shirts and bumper stickers. :-D

Hope you all have a lovely, frugal day.

Good morning friends.

I slept OK but rarely wake up feeling really rested. But Pippi didn’t start her meowing routine until around 6 so I’m thankful for that.

Today I’ll continue to go through my craft closet. Yesterday I decluttered about 2/3 of the knitting and craft pattern books in one area but since I was going to mom’s house I didn’t want to pull out the bulk of the items so I’ll do that (or st least part of that) this morning. Pippi has her appointment mid-afternoon.

Yesterday I washed the front door and front window sills and window frames at mom’s house. They each had a film of the yellow oak stuff. Then I raked in shady glen in the back yard where there were more leaves. This area is close to neighbor’s yard with the big oak tree. There are more leaves in the very back of the yard where I did not rake earlier. Another day. I dropped off items at the church school thrift store. They were not happy because they want donations before noon and want them behind the store because of Covid. But she took them. Depending on what I get done I may drop things at SA today but more likely tomorrow.

I watched The Last Blockbuster on Netflix (ironic). Slow beginning but I enjoyed it. It is a quirky documentary.

Take care.

Congrats on the pay increase! I’m also glad that your job will continue next fall with the combination freshman and Covid kids areas. (That will be trying I’m sure, however!)

Great rate on the Washington Post! I locked in $29 for a year a few months ago and thought that was good but $1/month is fantastic.

Jackie, that is crazy that you were bumped from your shot spot. Since you've been having medical treatment, one would think you'd be secured a place.
