I have been picking mulberries that are growing wild along a fence line between my house and one of my neighbors. Also have been picking wild grape leaves to use for making Greek dolmas...I am blanching the grape leaves in salt water and will freeze them for later. I was going to do them in a brine but have not dug out my canning jars and canner yet. Need to do that soon. I am freezing the mulberries for later since I only get a small handful to a cup a day..Also snipping mulberry leaves to dry to make tea and whenever I see a red clover blossom I will pick it and bring it in to add to my iced tea. I have dried a few blossom for winter but wanted to try the fresh one now in iced tea. They are suppose to add a honey taste to the tea but maybe I have not used enough of them since I cannot taste any difference.

cj I never thought of cooking the leaves to add to a saute like you did. I have cleaned some and added them to my salad.. I keep my eyes open for dandelions that are not in my yard so I can dig them up later in the Fall to try to make dandelion coffee like Recovering Dreamer has mentioned..I quit drinking coffee for health reasons and I am feeling better but do miss my coffee.. I am hoping to get enough dandelion roots to make it worthwhile to dig them up.It is fun foraging but if I had a family to try to feed it would be too much work. .Janet Alliesmama

So this year I am really trying to do more of this.

I am not one to eat dandelions though people say the leaves taste great in salads, or to dry, and grind the roots to make coffee. I am one, however that will try to use the flowers in personal products like cremes and oils. So my first foray into foraging for this year was to make some dandelion oil. I did learn something and that is to pick double what you think you need.

I have also been looking for wild berry bushes or those growing on public property that I can harvest from come those times. I found a few, but would love to find a few more.
