Good morning frugal folks,

Sorry to hear that you were up all night, Janet. It's a good day for a Janet nap.

Today should be an interesting day. This is day 2 waking up without knee pain. I did not use the wheelchair to make coffee this morning. I did it standing up. It seemed odd after the many weeks of sitting in the chair. Yesterday, I craved a walk, so I went over to Home Depot and walked around. I needed a 1/2 inch pvc pipe for my irrigation system which I got, but mostly just walked around. I may go to another big store today and just walk around awhile. Too hot to walk around outside.

Housework is easier walking since my house is not set up for a wheelchair. But I figure this experience was a warming of the future, so I will go ahead and get the kitchen remodeled to use the wheelchair.

I used the old rice cooker to make steamed vegetables yesterday. We had them for dinner with cheese because it was hot. Today, I will just fry hamburgers and have cold pickles as a side. Light fare for the summer.

Supposedly, we got rain last night, but all I saw was lightening. I watered yesterday afternoon because the plants looked wilted. May was the hottest month on record and a very dry one as well. June until yesterday was just like May. The cloud cover and rain cooled breeze reduced the ac use. But the higher humidity made it feel hot.

Yesterday, I bought 30 lbs of ground beef on sale. They are the 5 lb rolls. I put 5 of them in the freezer and one I will cut up into patties today and put in my reusable plastic pint containers. How much I do today will depend on the knee.

Today, I am grateful that it looks like rain and cooler temperatures. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning fellow frugalites,

I am up at a reasonable time, in fact have been up for awhile. I did toss and turn a bit last night, probably due to the fact that we have this Ministry Fair today and I really don't think it is going to do much of anything about getting people involved (we have had 2 of these under my watch as Pastoral Council Chairperson). But will give it another go today and see what happens.

We set up for the fair after Mass last night, and I noticed something very strange. Our priest spent time talking to every single person there except moi. I have a feeling that he is kind of pushing those he didn't choose or those he can't make do what he wants to the side. More and more I am thinking the time has come to draw back from ministries I no longer enjoy and carry on with those I do. We shall see what happens today.

I have my usual list of chores to do today, mostly making next weeks lists and the sooner I get started the sooner I will have fun after. I honestly thought I could finish the quilt yesterday, so today I hope to complete it. Just working on the binding right now, once completed I can move on to the next one (probably tomorrow).

It was very cold here yesterday and looked like rain for most of the day. Skies were leaden and no sun until after supper. Of course we didn't get any rain, but one can always hope. Today is sunny with only wisps of clouds in a robin's egg blue sky, so unless things change the forecasted rain won't appear today either.

Frugally speaking today will be a no spend day (church envelope not being used) other than heading to Mass (and spending most of the day at church) the car will not be used and I will not be spending.

I also want to check the rhubarb at some point today. I have a couple of bags done and in the freezer, but would really like a few more residing in there for the winter. We love rhubarb pie! Kind of a taste of early summer in the middle of winter.

Supper tonight is going to be baked ham, scalloped potatoes, and the remainder of the tossed salad from last night.

Today I am grateful for the smell of freshly ground coffee.

Everybody have a great day. Take care.

Good morning all.

I had fun at the play/musical yesterday. Great show, very inspiring and upbeat. Audience gave it a standing ovation. Thank you, Canada! Getting to the show was a bit stressful with traffic and an accident that required a detour and then we barely got a parking spot even with a prepaid ticket. But it all worked out.

Today I’ll stay home. I could hear a heavy rain overnight and it is overcast now. There is rain in the forecast for the next week.

In the business section of today’s paper there is a list of the 50 highest paid Florida CEOs. Number 50, the lowest paid, made $2.4 million. Number one made $22.6 million. Even I as a magazine business writer for many years was taken aback. American capitalism at its best or capitalism gone astray? I’ve always considered myself a moderate but socialism no longer sounds bad.

Have a good day.

Good morning all!!

It is sort of foggy here this morning. Maybe due to our humid weather? It was warm yesterday and supposed to be warmer today. Then we get a cold front - 80s.

And guess what - still have not turned on the AC! I need to get it serviced and i just hate waiting and being around people that have to work on the house. The COD was supposed to get his cousin to come by - but nothing yet. I figured he would crack since he is always whining about being hot or cold. But he is toughing it out

Surprisingly it is not that bad insided the house. We have lots of windows, well ventilated attice, trees around us - not super close, nice porch, and it is okay. I did buy two extra fans and that helps too. Hey - i might go all summer like this - lol.

I did notice while out and about that people seem to like to keep places so cold. No wonder we get immune. You have to wear a jacket.

I'll probably schedule service this Thursday - my "day off".
